How to get from Madrid to Toledo by Train?
Madrid and Toledo are well connected by a high speed train leaving Madrid’s Atocha station every hour. The journey takes about 30 mins each way.
The cost of the train journey ranges between 10 and 13 euro each way and this depends on time of the day and day of the week.
As departure times can change, check out Renfe website for times and costs.
Toledo train station
Toledo train station is worth a section of its own, as it is probably one of the nicest stations, we have been in.
We would recommend spending 15 minutes having a look around it before heading home.
I remember this old style hatch ticket box in my local station when I was growing up.
Toledo train station to the city centre.
The walk to the city centre takes about 15 -20 mins. We took the route which goes across the beautiful Puente de Alcántara. Feeling fit? Walk straight across the road and follow the many steps up into the city centre. If not feeling as fit (like us) cross the road turn right and walk up Calle Gerardo Lobo, about half way up, there is a car park walk in there and there is an escalator which will take you to the top.
If you don’t think you can walk the distance, there are any number of taxis outside the station which will take you into the city for 5-6 euros each way.
Enjoy!
