We’re a family from Northern Ireland who love exploring the world together. We’ve travelled to countries all over the globe and along the way we’ve learnt that family travel doesn’t have to mean spending a fortune or sticking to the usual tourist attractions.
Sometimes the best adventures are the ones you didn’t plan.
Why did we start a family travel blog?
We started Where Are We Off To Now? back in 2018 because we wanted to share our travels with other families.
We know that planning a family holiday can be a bit overwhelming. Where should you stay? Is it actually worth the money? Can you get there with kids? What’s the food like? Is the attraction really suitable for children?
And, perhaps most importantly…
Is it actually worth doing?
That’s where we come in.
We share the good, the bad and occasionally the downright strange things we experience while travelling as a family.
From family friendly attractions and unusual places to stay, to city breaks, road trips, theme parks, football, food and those unexpected moments that make a trip memorable, we try to give you an honest look at what it’s really like.
Family travel isn’t always perfect
We’re not one of those families who travel with everything perfectly organised.
We’ve missed trains. We’ve got lost. We’ve booked places that probably looked better in the photographs. We’ve paid too much for things. We’ve been exhausted, cold, hungry and occasionally wondered what on earth we were doing.
But we’ve also had some absolutely brilliant experiences.
And that’s what we love about travelling as a family.
The memories you create together are worth far more than the perfect Instagram photo.
Meet the Lewis Family
Michael (Daddy)
I’m Michael, the one who probably gets far too excited about football, travel and figuring out how to get from A to B.
I’ve been lucky enough to visit more than 70 countries and love exploring somewhere new. I also enjoy finding unusual things to do and, naturally, trying to squeeze as much as possible into every trip.
Football is a big part of my life, so don’t be surprised if our travels occasionally involve finding a stadium, watching a match or visiting somewhere football related.
Nicola (Mummy)
I’m Nicola, otherwise known as Mummy approximately 5,000 times a day!
I love travelling, discovering new places and, most importantly, finding good food along the way.
I’m also the one who has to put up with Michael’s travel ideas, Megan’s never ending questions and all the planning that goes into getting us from one country to another.
I enjoy finding great places to eat, relaxing with a glass of wine and, when we’re not travelling, watching far too much Netflix.
Megan
And then there’s Megan.
Travelling has been a huge part of Megan’s life, and we’ve loved watching her grow in confidence as we’ve explored more of the world together.
She’s always been curious about different countries, cultures and experiences, and she’s certainly not afraid to tell us exactly what she thinks!
A lot of our travels are planned around finding things that she’ll enjoy too, because family travel works best when everyone gets something out of it.

Hi, I’m Geoffrey! 🐾 I love being part of the Lewis Family!
Megan is my favourite. She always greets me in the morning with a big smile and a hug, and sneaks me snacks when nobody is looking! She even forgave me for the time I ate every single one of her superhero dolls. 😬
I love running for miles and miles around the park, chasing my ball and generally having the best time.
When my lot head off on their travels, to God only knows where, I get to go to the number one spot for dogs — Whinney Hill Kennels! 🐶
It’s my favourite place on Earth, and I’m already counting down the days until I get to go back!

Travelling the world as a family
One of the things we love most about family travel is that every trip becomes part of your family’s story.
We’ve had incredible days, ridiculous days, stressful days and days where we’ve eaten far too much.
We’ve travelled by planes, trains, buses, boats and some slightly more unusual methods of transport. We’ve stayed in hotels, hostels and some very unusual places.
And we’ve learnt that you don’t need to wait until the kids are older to start exploring the world.
Take the kids. Make the memories. Go on the adventure.
That’s what we’re trying to do.
