Day 4 Travelling across the USA

Another emotional day as we finished our visit to Portland and made our way back to Boston.

Morning

I had a very restless night’s sleep. It often takes me a while to settle into new surroundings. We had to wake Megan at 9 am, but she was not happy we left it that late. “I have missed out on all the fun !”

The family we were staying with owns dog kennels/groomers. After breakfast, they asked Megan if she would wash one of the pups. A slight concern of Megan’s was missing out on pool time. However, after being told she still had plenty of time for the pool, away she went to wash the pup.

Pup washed, then it was pool time for Megan. After an hour in the pool, Doug arrived home and asked if Megan would like to go out in the sports car she was eyeing up the day before. Being a keen Forza fan, Megan was desperate to see what it could do, and off she went for a quick spin.

Only back a few minutes. “Megan, you ever been on a field 4X4?” The answer was no, and off around the fields, she went.

Megan must have been thinking she was still dreaming. After another swim, she was asked if she wanted to help train some of the pups. The pups didn’t get much training from Megan, but she got plenty of cuddles.

Afternoon

Our train to Boston was leaving at one, so we had a quick lunch and said our goodbyes with a mini beer in a shot glass. A lovely way to say goodbye!

Kathy took us to the train station and made a quick stop at the corner shop so Megan could get a ‘Slushie’ this was day two without one, and she was getting withdrawal symptoms…

After arriving at the station, things got emotional again. We said our goodbyes and made promises we would return. Nicola was saying how much like her visits it was for Megan. Nothing was too much for these guys, anything Megan wanted to see or do they made it happen.

After we waved goodbye, we boarded our pretty uneventful train to Boston, and spent our time watching the world go by.

Evening

Boston was warm when we arrived around 4:30 pm. I made an unpopular request to go see the seafront. After a short debate and a promise it would only be for 15 minutes, we got on the subway and got off at Aquarium. I’m so glad we went the front was beautiful and felt lovely to feel the sea air in our faces.

Megan was complaining about how warm it was. She looked over and saw fountains, and away she went to cool herself down. Pity the water wasn’t cold, and she had a warm shower! Never mind, she was happy.

Night

Time was ticking on. So, we headed to the hotel we stayed in the other night near the airport. This time it was pretty uneventful, and not a scene from SWAT. We grabbed a beer and some dinner and got an early night. Everyone went to sleep exhausted, but with a smile on our faces from the past couple of days.
