Premier Inn, Dubai International Airport.

Outside view of Premier Inn, Dubai International Airport

While looking for a cheap hotel in Dubai (no easy task), I was surprised to find a Premier Inn at Dubai International Airport. The price of £40 for one night surprised me even more, and without thinking twice, we booked a night at the Premier Inn, Dubai International Airport.

Getting to the Premier Inn, Dubai International Airport

Old shuttle bus which brings you from T1 and T1 to Premier Inn, Dubai International Airport.

The Premier Inn, Dubai International Airport, is literally across the road from the airport. The road is freeway-like,  and without a long walk, it is impossible to walk to the hotel. However, the hotel offers a free shuttle that takes you from T1 and T3 at the airport to the hotel in less than 6 minutes and runs every 30 minutes in both directions. Of course, you could pay for a rather expensive cab if you wanted to arrive in style, but there is really no need.

Rooms/bathroom

Tidy spacious rooms at Premier Inn, Dubai International Airport. as expected.

I could now simply copy and paste what I wrote about the Premier Inn in Munich. But I won’t do that, and I will re-confirm that every single Premier Inn is exactly the same. You know exactly what you’re going to get before you even open the door. No surprises.

The room was spotless, the shower was hot, the beds were comfortable, and there wasn’t a noise to be heard.

Places to eat or drink

We arrived late and didn’t bother to eat anything, but went straight to bed after an exhausting 10-hour flight. I did notice, though, that there was a really expensive Costa Coffee that sold the usual stuff and a bar that looked good, but it was expensive and wouldn’t let Megan in after 9 p.m., so I can’t say what it was like to eat or drink there.

Pool/Gym

Sadly, we arrived too late and headed into the city too early to use the pool. This was much to Megan’s disappointment, as she loves a good pool. However, the pool did look spot-on and would be nice for a refreshing dip after a long flight.

Lobby Space

Small lobby space at Premier Inn, Dubai International Airport.

We like going sitting in the lobby if we are in a hotel for a longer period of time. Gets us out of the room and we get to people watch (Megan’s favourite hobby.) There is a seating area with a TV showing the news, but it isn’t a big area.

Getting to/from the city

The hotel does offer free shuttles to and from different malls within the city. However, if you want to get out and explore the city, you will have to either get an expensive taxi or head back to the airport and get the frequent red line to the attractions. While this is a simple enough task, it would get a bit boring after a while.

Overall thoughts?

100% if you are only in Dubai for a short time, arriving late at night or departing early in the morning. If you are looking to explore Dubai, then it is going to be in the wrong location. Family-friendly, as expected; we didn’t hear a pin drop all night.

Thanks again
