Flixbus from Miami to Orlando.

We had loads of options for getting from Miami to Orlando: numerous different bus companies, Brightline Train, Uber, and even flying. However, we were on a budget (you wouldn’t believe how little we had arrived in the USA with) and decided to go with Flixbus, a company we have used all over Europe and in South America. This is our experience with Flixbus from Miami to Orlando.

Buying tickets for Flixbus.

Flixbus tickets were really simple to buy on their website, and cost us $88 for pick up at Sheridan Street Tri-Rail Station. There was a number of pick up spots in different locations in Miami/Fort Lauderdale, we picked Sheridan Street as it suited us better.

Flixbus from Miami to Orlando, bus arrival.

As I said above, we got on at Sheridan Street. We waited just outside the train station and hoped we had the right pick-up place. Our fears were allayed when a green bus with the Flixbus logo on it pulled into the parking lot. I was pretty stunned that it had the Flixbus logo on it and that it had arrived on time. Arriving on time never happens with buses anywhere in the world.

Boarding was straight forward; we placed our bags in the luggage compartment, showed the driver our QR code, and were on the bus with a few other passengers with no issues. The bus was busy enough, so I assume the bus comes from Miami Central or the airport before it arrives at Sheridan Street.

Flixbus Miami to Orlando- The bus.

While the bus had the green logo on the side, it wasn’t of the same standard of Flixbus you find in Europe.

Some seats were torn, and there was food strewn on the floor from the previous passengers.

The toilet was clean but had a strong smell of urine coming from it. This would be no different from any bus with a toilet on it, to be fair.

As expected, while the website says there is WiFi and entertainment on the bus, the WiFi didn’t work and the TVs didn’t come on. We had an electric socket in front of us, but this didn’t work either.

The Journey from Miami to Orlando.

The journey itself was pretty uneventful, and, to be honest, we didn’t have much of a view. A near miss when a car pulled out in front of the bus was about as exciting as it got. That is a good thing, right? No drama is always good.

Megan did some school work, making good use of her time. However, when it was time to do some reading, she obviously got tired and needed to sleep.

As the journey was scheduled for 3 hours, 25 minutes, the driver didn’t make any stops. With no stops and light traffic we arrived at Florida Mall, Orlando, 20 minutes earlier than scheduled.

Here, we found taxis and shuttle buses going to local hotels. We were in no rush, so we decided to have a potter around Florida Mall.

Would we recommend Flixbus from Miami to Orlando?

Yes. While the bus was grubby and the toilet smelled, I doubt any other bus services on this line would be much better. The journey by bus cost us a fraction of the price of the Brightline, and from what I can see, we were quicker. The price we paid was worth it in my eyes and would happily use again.
