Our plans for Atlanta were to go watch the USA play Panama in the Copa America. However, when we told people we were visiting Atlanta, they all told us we had to visit the world of Coca-Cola. While money was tight, we were given the recommendation so many times that we had to go. This is our honest review of ‘Visiting the World of Coca-Cola, Atlanta.’
Where is the World of Coca-Cola, Atlanta?
The World of Coca-Cola is found at 121 Baker St. NW, Atlanta, GA 30313. It is in downtown Atlanta, right opposite Centennial Olympic Park, and in the area of all the other major tourist attractions in Atlanta.
Buying tickets for World of Coca-Cola, Atlanta.
We purchased our tickets online at the World of Coca-Cola. Prices vary between days/times/age group, so keep an eye on the website for updated prices. We paid $64.25 for 2 adults and 1 child, which ended up to be FANTA-stic value.
Tickets are timed hourly throughout the day, but from what I understand you can be a bit late or early with no impact.
You could also buy tickets from the office at the World of Coca-Cola
What to see and do at the World of Coca-Cola, Atlanta.
There were 9 rooms in the tour: Icons, Beverage Lab, Scent Discovery, Taste It, Polar Bear, The Loft, Coca-Cola Theatre, Milestones of Refreshment, and The Vault with the Secret Formula. Each room is amazing, and we learned so much, but these are our favourite five.
Taste it.
Not the first place we visited on our tour of the World of Coca-Cola, but certainly a firm favourite section with us. Here we got to taste over 100 flavours of Coca-Cola products from all over the world. This is part of your ticket price so fill your boots.
We were not able to taste every single flavour in the time we spent in every section, but we gave it a good go! Some of the flavours were really strange, and some were disgusting. The one that stood out for me as disgusting was the Fanta Plum flavour from China; I can still taste that.
I would recommend that if you’re going with young kids, you go first thing in the morning, so they will have time to lose that sugar rush throughout the day and not at bedtime.
Megan’s favourite was TAB.
Daddy’s favourite was Grape Fanta.
Mummy’s favourites was Apple and Kiwi-Fanta from Thailand.
The Vault.
It is well known that the formula for Coca-Cola is a well guarded secret, perhaps one of the most well kept secrets of all time.
In the vault, we learned about the secret formula, how people have tried to copy it, and how Coca-Cola has kept it secure for so long. We learned so much—lots of stuff you wouldn’t even think of. We then headed into the room where the secret is kept.
What is the secret? Well, you will have to visit to find out!
Milestones of Refreshment.
In this room we walked through the history of The Coca-Cola Company from its humble beginnings in Atlanta to what it is now.
We literally passed hundreds, if not thousands, of artefacts on display. Including a Northern Ireland badge, which Megan spotted!
I could have stayed for longer in this area, but even if I did I wouldn’t have been able to take it all in anyway.
The Loft.
The loft is the first room we entered, and it was certainly a WOW moment. Here we got our first introduction to the history of Coca-Cola, while we looked at over 200 artefacts (not sure if that is the right word) from its 135-year history.
While we were only in the room for 10 minutes, it really was a great starter and a great indication of what was coming.
Polar Bear.
We were extremely lucky here; we came up the stairs to see that the Polar Bear session was over and the next one wasn’t for an hour.
However, I looked inside, and there were still people waiting. We quickly joined the queue, and Megan got her photo taken with the Coca-Cola Polar Bear. I didn’t realise it at the time; I thought only professional photographers were allowed to take photos and only took a quick snap, but anyone was allowed to take a photo.
Thankfully, that was the case, as the professional photos were eye-wateringly expensive.
Would we recommend visiting the World of Coca-Cola, Atlanta?
This would be a solid 100%, yes! We spent 2 hours doing our self-guided tour; we probably could have spent 3 hours or more. There is so much information to take in, loads of interactive displays, and a real buzz around the place. It really was FANTA-stic and we believe it was really great value for money. If you are visiting, cutting through, or near Atlanta, I really recommend visiting the World of Coca-Cola; it is great fun for all ages.
